island of Byzantine Princes, now home to a peaceful monastary.
Tour the island with horse-drawn carriages before lunch at a
fish restaurant. Early evening return to Istanbul and transfer to

Departure by ferry-boat to Yalova and drive to Bursa. Being the
first Ottoman capital, Bursa is very rich in religious monuments,
mosques, tombs, and baths. See Yesil Cami(Green Mosque), its
carved marble doorway is one of the best in Anatolia. Just
opposite, is the Yesil Turbe (Green Tomb), set in a green garden
with an enchanting exterior decorated with turquoise tiles.
Lunch on the famous "Kebap of Alexander The Great". Take a
cable car up Uludag, Bursa's inactive volcano famous for spas
and skiing. Our trip concludes in the old Silk Market in the
Covered Bazaar. |

Next is the Hippodrome, center of ancient sports events, (chariot
races, athletics) and political activities of the old city. The
Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, the German
Fountain of Wilhelm II are monuments found within the
Hippodrome.
Lastly is the Grand Covered Bazaar, the biggest "souk" in the
world with nearly 4000 shops selling antiques, jewellery, gold,
carpets, leatherware and souvenirs. |

Dolmabahce Palace is the last residence of the Ottoman Sultans
with 365 rooms and 22 saloons. Famous for the great collection

chandelier), and the place where Ataturk, the founder of the
Republic of Turkey died. At the Bosphorus Bridge you have the
unique chance to step from one continent (Europe) to another
(Asia). We end at Camlica Hill, the best point for a panoramic

Sinan, chief architect of the Ottoman Empire, built for Suleyman
The Magnificent in the 16th. Century and is considered the best

Tukish Night is a cultural feast where you can enjoy traditional
Turkish food and watch a historical show about the Harem. The
Harem was in the Ottoman Palace where the Sultan had access
to hundreds of beautiful women, all looked after by his mother,
the Sultana. These gorgeous ladies were from all over the world,
often stranded within Ottoman borders after wars broke out and
a cultural mix occured. |
