Ferries, motorboats and hydrofoils run between at least six Greek islands to ten ports in Turkey. The busiest and most reliable Turkish ports are Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi and Cesme; the busiest and most reliable in Greece are Rhodes, Kos, Samos and Chios. Make your reservation at least one day in advance and be aware you may have to submit your passport overnight for registration.
In the off-season (November 1st to April 30th), service is less frequent. In winter there may be only one boat a week, or a boat may only leave if there are enough passengers to make it worthwhile, or (gasp!) there may be no service at all! In this case you will have to move to a busier island and try your luck. The most reliable off-season service is Bodrum-Kos; the second-most reliable is Marmaris-Rhodes. Bad weather can cause cancellation of winter voyages.
We also cannot stress enough that you MUST confirm departure dates and times carefully (in any season), as they are notoriously ever-changing. What worked for a traveller 2 weeks ago might not work for you this week. Avoid the stress and let Speedtraveltr.com can take care of confirmations and reservations for you. Ayvalik - Lesvos - Lesvos - Ayvalik |

The most uncertain ferry is and always has been the one between Lesvos and Ayvalik. Ferries run 6 days a week,(in theory)from June to September and supposedly once a week in winter. Be aware that in winter, trips are quite unreliable due to weather conditions in the area. (Not a problem in summer months though.) The trip takes approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes.
